Great weather, great smiles and a great day of competition as Hilton CSD athletes competed in the Special Olympics at SUNY Brockport today. Great job Cadets!
It was a great day to walk, and Village Elementary took advantage, holding their One Healthy Village School Wide Walk. Throughout the day classes could be seen walking through the village to help promote living balanced, and healthy lives.
What a great day for Village and Northwood sixth graders to get together for the annual track and field event.
A Northwood student has earned a trip to a national competition next week. Find out all about it here: https://youtu.be/CVVgI6jxYWs
Last week Merton Williams 8th graders got the chance to see some great sights-both in our area and some not so close. About 230 students spent three days visiting Gettysburg and Washington, DC while another 30 went to the Seneca Park Zoo, the Memorial Art Gallery and Genesee Country Village and Museum.
Special thanks to the advisors and chaperones who put in so much work to make these educational trips possible, and to the Hilton Alumni Association whose generous grants helped support a portion of the expenses for individual students.
Great job by Northwood students Adrianna and Carter presenting their inventions and from Leo giving his TED Talk at last night's Board of Education meeting. Thanks to their REACH teacher Melanie Klock for sharing their talents with us.
Congratulations to the Hilton CSD team that took part in last week's JP Morgan Corporate Challenge at Innovative Field. Mike Champlin, Kelley Stoll, Matt Spreter, Jen Torres, and Jeff Najder placed fourth out of around 180 teams that participated.
It's time for the latest edition of Cadet Chronicles. This week Village Elementary teacher Mike Heise talks about the "Big H Podcast." You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/UWRnsI8KHJM
A big tip of the hat to the mechanics in our Transportation Department. Our buses had a 99.12% passing rate in their New York State Inspections. The state average was 95.8%. great job by Mike Lage, Jason Doty, Tony Vasques, Mark Zieziula, Scott Warax, and Robert Hale.
Today was Culture Day at Quest-a chance for students to learn about other cultures. It started with a performance by a group from RIT called Dangerous Signs, representing Deaf Culture. There were also presentations on People with Disabilities, and countries from around the world.
Students at Northwood made the most of their half day-Ms. McBride's Kindergarten class held a Memorial Day Celebration, students took advantage of the weather by running/walking on a route set up in the bus loop, and students in Ms. Sica's class put on an amazing "Choose to Reuse" fashion show with clothes that were either from thrift stores or hand me downs, and an art/invention show that used only recycled materials.
A busy day for the high school this morning-Class Day, complete with therapy dogs, followed by the annual Senior Breakfast where the class of 2024 got their caps and gowns and yearbooks.
Students from Northwood, Quest and Village had a chance to see computer programs they coded in use by the olive baboons at the Seneca Park Zoo. It's part of the Primate Portal Project along with RIT, Carnegie Mellon University and the zoo. More info on this coming soon!

Thanks to the Honorable Frank P. Geraci Jr., United States District Judge for the Western District of New York for taking the time to address students at the high school about his career in the legal field. Judge Geraci talked about his path to the Federal Court and answered questions from the students about some of his more memorable cases as well as a number of other topics.
