More than 400 students from 24 schools across New York State participated in the Model United Nations Conference at Hilton High School November 3 and 4. The two-day conference began with an opening ceremony and featured speaker New York State Senator Jeremy Cooney.
The Model UN is a simulation of the actual United Nations where student participants act as country delegates. Throughout the conference, the students give speeches and participate in debates to help solve real world issues their countries are facing.
Aside from debates and speeches, students also took time to fundraise. Different committees competed in “jar wars” and raised $4,000 for the Center for Youth.
This was the 44th year of the Model UN Conference at Hilton.
