On June 13, 125 sixth graders walked across the stage at Hilton High School to accept their certificates of completion and begin their journey as middle schoolers. Seth Cassata, Evaleyse Cotropia, Mattingly Fromm, Faith Hackett, and Mason Tette began the ceremony with a reading of Oh, The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss. Olivia Giardino, Student Council president, and Victoria Svyrydyuk, vice president, welcomed guests.
Merton Williams Middle School Principal Marc D’Amico gave the graduates some facts about the number of hours required to achieve mastery and did the math to show that by time they enter the High School with 10,080 hours, they will, in fact, be “expert students.” The ceremony concluded with Alivia Baker and Jimmy Ramirez reading “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
