Personal Project

Starting in ninth grade and culminating in the spring of 10th grade, students complete a Personal Project - a large-scale activity of their own design and based on their own interests. With guidance from adults within the school community, students identify a particular area of interest and strength that they are motivated to pursue. Students will have a one hour monthly advisement time during the school day to work on the project between September and February. However, time outside of school will also be required to complete the project. The projects are assessed based on MYP Personal Project Rubric with students presenting about their project during the half day in March.

The Personal Project is REQUIRED by Hilton and represents the culmination of the Middle Years Program. Students receive a Pass/Fail on their Quarter 3 report card based on their work on the project, and completion of the project will be reflected on the student transcript. Neither the quarter grade nor transcript note will affect the student's grade point average. Students will also receive .5 credit for completing the project.

The following are sample transcripts for a student who completed the personal project and a student who did not complete the personal project.
