Sonja Volkmar’s music students from Ms. Sansone’s fifth grade class at Northwood Elementary School decided to celebrate a special veteran’s birthday with a virtual message.
Colonel Tim Martin is stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and recently turned 50-years-old. Ms. Volkmar wanted to do something special for her friend and involve the students, so they sang happy birthday to him.
As a thank you, Colonel Martin sent the class a flag to be displayed at the school. This flag was flown in the cockpit of an F-16 during an Aerospace Control Alert Mission over Washington, D.C. and was sent with a certificate signed by the pilot, Captain Stanley Skibo.
