Dear Hilton Central School District Families,
We wanted to let you know about a nationwide milk carton shortage which is impacting our school district. The Dairy Farmers of America said one of its major suppliers of half-pint milk cartons which are distributed to schools for meals, is unable to produce enough packaging to meet the demand.
State and federal guidelines permit schools to serve meals without milk during a shortage such as this one. The district is, however, working to consider other options so milk may be available for breakfast and/or lunch. We will communicate other options as they become available.
Your children’s health and well-being remain top priorities for the district. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this shortage.
