Board of Education Governance Service Commitment

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Education of the Hilton Central School District will hold a public hearing on August 22, 2023, at New York at 7:00 p.m., at its regularly scheduled Board meeting.

Adam Geist, Assistant Superintendent for Business, will present options for Real Property Tax Exemptions of New York State to the Board of Education including:

  • Real property tax exemption for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers, as amended by Chapter 670 of the Laws of 2022 of New York State (RPTL 466);  
  • Changes to the senior citizens exemption and the exemption for persons with disabilities and limited incomes in the 2023-2024 Enacted State Budget; Part K of Chapter 59 of the Laws of 2023 amended the senior citizens exemption (RPTL 467) and the exemption for persons with disabilities and limited incomes (RPTL 459-c);
  • Alternative veterans exemption, Eligible funds exemption, and Cold War veterans exemption for veterans who have served in the U. S. Armed Forces; including veterans who have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard (RPTL 458)

All interested parties may be heard concerning the adoption of resolutions authorizing optional property tax exemptions.
